Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Fuentes always had a strong sense of responsibility and justice. This passion led him to pursue a degree in criminal justice from the University of Houston-Downtown, where he graduated in 2008. He also completed various criminal justice courses, including criminology and community-oriented policing. This helped in the better understanding of the justice system and enhanced his interest in investigative work and public service.

Fuentes began his professional journey in 2003 as a loss prevention officer at Kohl’s Department Stores. His keen eye for detail and instinct for investigative work played a significant role in the team being ranked number one nationally, with 307 solved shoplifting cases in a year.

In 2010, Fuentes was promoted to the role of loss prevention supervisor at Kohl’s. During this period, he managed high-risk stores, developed shortage-reduction plans and led investigations that saved the company from significant financial losses. In one instance, he successfully resolved an employee theft investigation valued at over $64,000. Proving his leadership capabilities, he also trained and mentored loss prevention staff.

While continuing his work at Kohl’s, he also served as a detention officer at the Harris County Sheriff’s Office in 2009. This role gave him hands-on experience with the criminal justice system, including inmate supervision and facility security.

After working nearly a decade at Kohl’s, Fuentes expanded his expertise by joining Mattress Firm as part of their corporate security team in 2014. Here, he managed the safety of corporate staff and facilities, ensuring security protocols were upheld and potential threats were identified and addressed.

In 2016, Fuentes took on the role of market investigator at CVS Health. He provided investigative coverage for 22 stores in the Houston area, identifying shoplifters, conducting physical security inspections and training store leaders on anti-theft strategies. His work helped to improve store-level loss prevention strategies across the region.

He then joined Lowe’s Companies, Inc., where he served as the asset protection and safety manager. Over two years, he identified and resolved more than 1,500 safety issues, successfully achieved inventory goals and uncovered inventory fraud cases totaling over $100,000.

In 2019, Fuentes joined Tailored Brands, Inc. as a loss prevention analyst. His leadership and ability to drive results quickly led to his promotion to regional loss prevention manager in 2021. Just two years later, he advanced to the position of senior regional loss prevention manager. In this role, Fuentes leads large teams, drives investigations and develops loss prevention strategies across multiple store locations.

Along with his professional journey, Fuentes always focused on building his skill set including internal investigations, interrogation techniques, inventory management and operational efficiency. He also holds basic peace officer license from Texas Commission on Law Enforcement and completed emergency medical technician course from the Texas Department of State Health Services.

He has spent over a decade volunteering with the Houston Food Bank and mentoring students at-risk in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, where he helps inspire youth to pursue education and positive life choices.
